VINNIE PAUL Joins BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION For Toast To DIMEBAG

February 11, 2005

PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN drummer Vinnie Paul made an appearance Thursday night (Feb. 10) at the Dallas, TX club Trees for a performance by BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION as part of the Dallas Music Fest. Paul and PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN drum tech John "Kat" Brooks (who was wounded in the Dec. 8 shooting in Columbus, OH that claimed the lives of PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott and four others) joined the BRIDES for a toast to Dimebag and the other victims of the Columbus tragedy. The BRIDES reportedly invited Vinnie on stage for a jam but he politely declined.

As previously reported, Paul may perform onstage with ANTHRAX at a benefit show in memory of his late brother. ANTHRAX is joining DISTURBED, DROWNING POOL and SOIL for the February 23 show at Chicago's Aragon Ballroom, and ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian told MTV.com, "We're just hoping it happens. There would be nothing better than getting Vinnie up on the drum kit and jamming with us. That would just be incredible."

The benefit concert will help cover bereavement costs for the family of DAMAGEPLAN security guard Jeffrey "Mayhem" Thompson, who was also killed, and medical expenses for DAMAGEPLAN crew members Brooks and Chris Paluska, who were injured during the shooting spree.
